Selected participants will:
- WRITE A SHORT SCRIPT! We will provide you with some information about Armine Nutting Gosling and the Newfoundland suffrage movement to give women the right to vote - it’s available in both English and French. From this, you will write a short interpretive script (750 words maximum) in your own language and include your own reflections about how Armine’s story relates to women’s equality in your own country and/or culture. We’ll ask you to send it back to us in both your language and an English translation. The timeframe for us to receive this is pretty quick - we’ll need you to complete it by May 27th.
- RECORD YOUR SCRIPT! Then we’ll bring you in to read your version in-person for a 30-minute audio recording session on May 30th or 31st. Both the written version of your script and your audio recording will live on the website for the Armine Nutting Gosling statue that is launching next month.
- BE CELEBRATED! You will be invited to participate in the unveiling ceremony on June 18th at Bannerman Park, where all of the writers and their stories will be celebrated as part of the public launch.
- GET PAID! You will receive a $400 stipend as a thank you for your time and contribution.
