5th ANNUAL PINK TIE GALA

CLB Armoury, 82 Harvey Rd, St. John's, Newfoundland

SOLD OUT FOR 2021

Our annual Pink Tie Gala has sold out each year to a room full of passionate, powerful feminists who have enjoyed an incredible evening full of entertainment, amazing food, and fellowship. Last year, due to COVID-19, our Pink Tie event looked a little different...

Nevertheless, we persisted!

On November 20th, 2021, PerSIStence Theatre will be hosting our annual Pink Tie Gala at the CLB Armoury to fundraise for our feminist initiatives. This event is an opportunity for our patrons to come together in support of our feminist art and ideologies. We would love for you to be one of them!

For over twenty years, the Ennis Sisters have been connecting to audiences across the world. From church halls in outport Newfoundland to performing for International leaders and delegates at the 75th anniversary of D-Day on Juno Beach, their harmonies resonate with us all.

A Juno Award, multiple ECMA’s, Music NL awards and a SOCAN for top grossing Canadian country song - along with endless accolades from fans and critics alike - tangible proof that they’ve tapped into something universal, beyond the notes on the page.

Flavoured by Celtic and traditional Newfoundland influences, Maureen, Karen and Teresa are known for their captivating sibling harmonies and their powerful, often humourous, storytelling. Their music offers a broad mix of original songs as well as uniquely interpreted tunes and ballads.

Live performance has been a staple of the Ennis’ experience and continues to be.  Proven road warriors since 1997, they gained underground notoriety before translating it into the global success they’ve become - and they aren’t finished yet. The group has recently recorded a new collection of original songs, produced by Alan Doyle, which is set to be released in the spring of 2022.

The Ennis Sisters will be taking their highly anticipated Christmas tour to theatres across Newfoundland in November/December again this year, with several shows planned for St. John's at Holy Heart Theatre.  For complete details visit TheEnnisSisters.com.
A performer of extraordinary ability with a haunting voice, Rachel Cousins made her debut in her teens with guitar based, folk-esque original songs written with legends on her home base of Newfoundland. Her songs continue to place on a top 100 East Coast music list. In 2020 two songs were included, one at #2 and one at #12.

She recently completed a colab project called “Songs From Home” with Alan Doyle, The Ennis Sisters, Fortunate Ones and The Once.

Among her numerous accolades, Rachel recently won the Music NL award for Pop Artist Of the Year. Her newest album, Love Language, was released in September.

DRESS CODE

"Pink Tie" is our cheeky take on the "Black Tie" theme.

Most folks dress formally- and some also choose to wear pink to honour the spirit of the event.

We encourage everyone to use their creative expression to dress to their own level of comfort.

COVID-19 POLICIES

The Gala is open to the fully-vaccinated only, which will be verified upon entry by NL VaxPass.

Additionally, the room will be spread out as a socially-distanced and mask-compliant event - masks may only be removed while sitting at tables.

INDIGENOUS LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is vital to support the Indigenous people and communities of Newfoundland and Labrador. As settlers, we must work toward understanding our privilege, as beneficiaries of both historical and ongoing colonialism, and acknowledge the horror and injustice perpetrated against the original inhabitants of North America.

We acknowledge the territory upon which we gather as the ancestral and unceded lands of the Beothuk and the island of Newfoundland as the ancestral homelands of the Mi’kmaq and Beothuk. We recognize the Inuit of Nunatsiavut and NunatuKavut and the Innu of Nitassinan, and their ancestors, as the original people of Labrador.

We recognize the historic and ongoing presence and influence of Indigenous people in Newfoundland – recorded and unrecorded, acknowledged and unacknowledged. We recognize that Newfoundland and Labrador has a place in the ongoing legacy of colonial violence, including, but not limited to, the genocide of the Beothuk people, the horrors of the Residential School system, and far too many Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Children.

We encourage all to join us in learning more about and supporting the Indigenous people and communities of Newfoundland and Labrador. A great place to start is by connecting with First Light an organization that provides programs and services rooted in the revitalization, strengthening and celebration of Indigenous cultures and languages in the spirit of trust, respect, and friendship.
